Understanding your Acne and How to treat them.

Introduction

Acne is hard on your skin, but it can also affect your self-confidence. You can control acne with several different acne treatment options. Usually, the best way to manage acne is with a combination of treatments.

Skin Care Routine

Squeezing pimples and scrubbing your skin can make acne worse. It also can lead to scarring. So, the first step is to wash your skin gently twice a day with a mild cleanser. Also make sure your makeup and skin care products are oil-free and say "non-comedogenic" on the label. Which means it’s not likely to clog pores.

 Cleansers

People with mild acne often use over-the-counter skin cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These cleansers remove dead skin cells, kill bacteria and dry up skin oils. Products with these ingredients come in many different forms, including gels, creams and pads. The cleansers usually work well to clear mild forms of acne. Even so, it may take up to eight weeks before you see improvement.

Chemical Peels and Extractions

A doctor applies chemicals to the skin for these procedures. The chemicals, such as glycolic acid, loosen blackheads and help unclog pores. Do not try to give yourself a chemical peel. This procedure requires special training. For an extraction, your doctor may remove pimples with a device that looks like a pen. Large acne cysts may also be surgically drained.
